SUMMARY:Inside The Next Breach: Understanding the AI Threat Before It Lands
DESCRIPTION:Spend a morning with Syscomm’s recovery team at The Crystal Maze LIVE Experience in London\, learning what really happens during a cyber breach — including lessons from over 200 ransomware recoveries. The focus this time: how AI is rewriting what attackers can do\, how quickly\, and at what cost. \nYou’ll get practical insights from real-world examples\, step-by-step prevention and recovery strategies\, and the chance to test those problem-solving skills inside the iconic Crystal Maze itself. Responding under pressure is easier to understand when you experience it first-hand 🙂 \nFull event runs 10:45 – 14:00 with refreshments\, a Crystal Maze session\, and a lunch & learn with networking. Short on time? Drop in for the 12:30 – 14:00 Lunch & Learn instead. \nFree to attend\, but places are limited and registration is required. \n\n\nNOTE: This event was previously scheduled for 24th June but was rescheduled due to the severe weather warnings.

In this talk\, Virtuware founder Hamza Qureshi will share the strategic decisions and real-world challenges behind creating his new social platform\, StageTime. Drawing on years of experience building massive VR spaces and working inside major social platforms\, Hamza will explore the specific gaps he identified in the market. He will discuss how existing platforms often cater heavily to hardcore ‘enthusiasts’ at the expense of casual users\, leading to bloated interfaces\, chaotic environments\, and high user friction. This session dives into the realities of designing a virtual ‘third place’ optimised for standalone headsets\, human-centric expression\, and healthy community building. Attendees will leave with candid insights into what it takes to build a seamless and meaningful immersive community from scratch.\n \nAbout Hamza\nHamza Qureshi is the Founder of Virtuware Ltd\, an immersive technology company based in MediaCityUK. He has been building experiences in virtual reality since 2016\, initially making his mark by creating one of the most popular karaoke spaces in VR. After spending several years working internally at VRChat\, Hamza took his deep understanding of virtual communities and founded StageTime – a platform dedicated to immersive social experiences. He is passionate about the evolution of the metaverse\, community building\, and the unique design challenges of social VR.\n\n \nDemo Details\nStudio Liddell\nStudio Liddell is a multi-BAFTA nominated creative studio at the forefront of animation\, immersive storytelling\, and next-generation interactive experiences. With a heritage spanning high-end CGI production through to cutting-edge XR development. \n \nKnown for delivering award-recognised content including BooSnoo! for Sky Kids\, Studio Liddell is once again stepping into location-based entertainment with Battleverse – a scalable mixed-reality platform designed for high-energy\, social gameplay. \n \nSpellcaster\, is the initial flagship game and is intended to be highly accessible for all ages and venues.\n \n \nBattleverse | Spellcaster\nStep into Battleverse: Spellcaster—a thrilling mixed reality experience that transforms any space into a living\, breathing arena of magic and mild mayhem. SUMMARY:CoSTAR Live Lab Presents: Adaptive VR Horror Experiences
DESCRIPTION:CoSTAR Live Lab Presents: Physiological Adaptive VR Horror Experiences \n\n\n\nWednesday 18 March 2026 | 13:00 – 14:00 | CoSTAR Live Lab\, Production Park WF9 3NR | Hybrid \n\n\n\nBook your free ticket today! \n\n\n\nEver wondered what happens when a VR horror film can sense your fear\, and change how the story is told in real time? Join us for a live talk and demo exploring physiological\, adaptive VR horror\, volumetric performance capture\, and AI-powered creative workflows. \n\n\n\nWe are excited to welcome Callum Berger (University of Lincoln) and Richard Ramchurn (AlbinoMosquito Productions) for an inspiring public talk as part of our CoSTAR Live Lab Presents series\, on their exciting cross industry and academic collaboration creating “Physiological Adaptive VR Horror Experiences”. \n\n\n\nCoSTAR Live Lab is an innovative R&D facility based at Production Park near Wakefield. Live Lab is part of the £75m government-funded CoSTAR Network\, and supports innovation in immersive\, multisensory and interactive technologies to transform audience experience\, shaping next-generation live experiences for screen\, stage and into the metaverse. \n\n\n\nCallum Berger is a PostDoc Research Associate at the University of Lincoln in the Centre for Defence and Security AI. His PhD research bridged computer science and film/media studies\, establishing a novel approach to developing adaptive virtual reality (VR) horror experiences. Through his work\, he provided actionable guidelines for immersive media creators while offering a comprehensive case study for evaluation. He explored fear responses in the brain using fNIRS\, interviewed horror film directors to highlight their creative workflows\, and co-created an adaptive VR horror experience titled “A Place for Everyone” in collaboration with the artist AlbinoMosquito which was showcased at film festivals and is now undergoing controlled lab studies. He is now researching the use of AI for decision-making within a defence and security context. \n\n\n\nRichard Ramchurn\, is creative director at AlbinoMosquito Productions\, a filmmaker\, artist–researcher\, and Senior Research Fellow working at the intersection of cinematic storytelling\, immersive media\, and creative AI. His practice explores how technologies such as volumetric capture\, virtual production\, and generative AI can expand narrative form\, embodiment\, and audience agency. He is the creator of A Place for Everyone\, a volumetric VR environmental horror narrative developed with real actors and AI-assisted workflows. The project investigates hybrid production pipelines that combine performance capture\, virtual environments\, and emerging practice as both a creative and research methodology. Alongside this\, he develops experimental tools such as AI LENS\, a live generative-AI camera that transforms real-time video into evolving diffusion imagery for performance and research. His work has been presented internationally at venues including Ars Electronica\, Sheffield Doc/Fest\, BAFTA\, TATE Modern\, and BRIC Brooklyn\, and he collaborates across academia and industry on immersive\, AI-driven\, and robotic media projects. \n\n\n\nCallum and Richard’s talk will take place on the 18th of March\, 13:00-14:00. The talk is open to in-person attendees at Live Lab’s Production Park home\, and will also be available as a live online video stream (via Zoom). After the talk\, we invite in-person attendees to join us for networking and a live demonstration of “A Place for Everyone” in Live Lab. We hope this will be an excellent opportunity to engage with our speakers\, fellow attendees and to meet the CoSTAR Live Lab team (who will be on hand to discuss ideas around how Live Lab can support and benefit you). \n\n\n\nIf you would like to attend this talk\, please sign up for a free ticket here. \n\n\n\nIf you are attending in-person\, we will require you to agree to the terms of Production Park’s Confidentiality and Business Protection Agreement before we are able to welcome you on site. SUMMARY:Skills Futures: critical AI skills for high-impact film producing
DESCRIPTION:AI isn’t the future\, it’s the now. Forward-thinking film producers are already harnessing its power; the gap between those armed and able to leverage responsible AI in practical and creative ways and those left behind is widening fast! \nSkills Futures: critical AI skills for high-impact film producing tackles the industry’s critical training void in AI head-on. Purpose-built for UK freelance film producers\, this intensive hands-on programme delivers what the sector desperately needs: inspiration plus practical and creative AI mastery you can apply with confidence immediately. \nReal-World Application at the Core\nThis programme is centred on real-world experience of AI use in film producing (pros and cons). It’s applied technology referencing actual industry practice as experienced by Final Pixel working at the cutting edge of technology\, and relevant examples from other film studios. We’re arming you (not alarming you) with the knowledge of if\, when\, and how to use AI in film production and distribution pipelines\, taking into consideration legal\, ethical\, and sustainability contexts. \nYou’ll learn how to confidently discuss the impact and opportunity of AI\, with talent\, with commissioners and buyers\, post-production houses\, and colleagues keen to understand the use of AI across all production roles. One of our key learning objectives is to ensure you are equipped to advocate for creative and practical AI use where it brings genuine added value and innovation—and to know when to push for change and when not to. \nThis course is being delivered through a partnership between Royal Holloway University of London’s StoryFutures (reputation for delivering high quality and inclusive training in use of immersive technologies to over 1400 creative industry professionals) and Final Pixel (award-winning entertainment studio). \nThis course is part-funded by the ScreenSkills Film Skills Fund with contributions from UK film productions. \nWho it’s for\nSkills Futures (a StoryFutures -at Royal Holloway University of London\,  and Final Pixel initiative) offers 16-20 places to film freelancers\, specifically established producers with three to five years’ experience in singles\, broadcasts or streamer\, theatrical release\, series\, or scripted feature films. The stackable programme is made up of in-person full days and ‘micro modules’ delivered online. \nThis is a nationwide programme and we welcome applications from across the UK.  \nWe always welcome applications from under-represented groups\, including\, but not limited to: those from minority ethnic backgrounds; people with a disability; people from the LGBTQ+ community and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. \nWe offer inclusive training. If you have any needs which we can accommodate during the recruitment process and beyond\, or would like support completing the booking form and/or would like us to send it to you in an alternative format\, please email: Helen.ONeill@rhul.ac.uk \nThere is a small allowance for access costs for successful candidates to ensure participants get the most from the programme. Details of this funding can be discussed with the training provider once accepted onto the programme\, and will be assessed on an individual basis. \nWhat it covers\nIn 32 transformative hours\, you will get hands-on to learn practical and creative AI skills that revolutionise how to work and thrive in the evolving digital era. Recognising the priority for producers to break down creative briefs and scripts into storyboards\, film schedules\, and workable budgets\, we’ll provide samples as starting points. \nThe programme will take you from AI 101—demystifying artificial intelligence—through to how to creatively and practically storyboard\, breakdown\, budget\, schedule\, pitch\, and scale a film idea using a range of AI tools\, workflows\, and pipelines. You will be able to quickly apply tools like Claude and other AI platforms to your actual job functions. From this foundation\, masterclasses and workshops will elevate your understanding—teaching you how to enhance creative vision with AI\, create assets efficiently\, and understand their impact on the production pipeline (timelines\, costs\, and workflow effects). \nLearning Progression:\n\nWeek 1: in-person robust foundational AI skills\, introduction to a broad range of tools and workflows\, VP demos and inspirational AI-led use cases and teamwork (e.g.\, VP suite and 2 x cutting-edge demos)\nWeek 2: online masterclasses from top tier industry experts for enrichment and media generation\, hands on application of AI tools and pipelines (e.g.\, 3D object generation\, animation\, video generation\, dramatised voice generation (script + narration)\, budget/schedule optimisation with AI)\nWeeks 3: interactive online workshop for hands-on project development\, deepening AI skills (e.g.\, concept development\, remote project workshops\, producing early assets: concept art\, draft scripts\, first-pass pitch deck\, agreement on final project direction)\nWeek 4: in-person\, on-set at Futures Studio for delivery of creative AI playbook/pitch with industry and peer feedback (e.g. teams use AI tools to complete pitch decks/playbooks\, live pitches to industry stakeholders with feedback and peer review\, discussion of future opportunities and roles\n\nHow to apply\nThis course runs from 12 March – 31 March 2026 and will be delivered partly in-person and partly online. \nIn-person sessions will take place at the cutting edge Futures Studio @Royal Holloway University of London\, Egham\, Surrey TW20. \n\nThursday 12 March\nTuesday 31 March\n\nOther sessions will be delivered online (dates and times TBC) \nMasterclasses \n\nLegal\, ethical and industry standards – (date/time TBC)\n2D gen AI creation and 3D Gen AI workshops – (date/time TBC)\nVideo and animation Gen AI workshops – (date/time TBC)\nMusic and dramatised voice Gen AI workshops – (date/time TBC)\n\nOnline interactive workshops: 2 x double workshop sessions each week  (dates and times TBC) \n\ncreative development\npractical development inc pipeline development and pitch preparation \n\nContact information\nName: Helen O’NeillEmail: Helen.ONeill@rhul.ac.uk \n\nOriginal event page: https://www.screenskills.com/bookings/skills-futures-critical-ai-skills-for-high-impact-film-producing/

SUMMARY:What AI says about your brand - and why it matters
DESCRIPTION:As more buyers turn to AI models like ChatGPT\, Claude and Gemini to research vendors\, the way brands earn visibility is changing fast. Traditional search is being replaced by single\, AI-generated answers. And in that shift\, PR and earned media have become core drivers of visibility and growth. In this session\, we’ll explore what this shift means for your brand: What LLMs actually say about your brand (and your competitors)\, How AI models choose who to recommend – and why media mentions matter\, Why PR is now central to brand visibility in AI search\, What ‘good signals’ look like in a world of LLMs and auto-generated shortlists\, How to operationalise comms (PR-ops) to influence the right outcomes. We’ll also share new data from over 100\,000 buyer-intent AI prompts – including which sources influence AI responses the most. If you’re a comms leader or a founder and want to understand your brand’s place in an AI-driven buying journey\, this session is for you. \n\nOriginal event page: https://www.pro-manchester.co.uk/event/what-ai-says-about-your-brand-and-why-it-matters/

SUMMARY:Build an AI Workflow That Saves You Time as a Founder
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to use multiple AI tools together to produce business materials faster\, from research and proposals to media and product conceptAs a founder\, you probably do not need another introduction to AI. You need a dependable way to use it inside the work you already do. This session is built around a simple question: how do you move from an early idea to pitch-ready materials without losing days to fragmented tools and half-finished outputs? Over the workshop\, we will take a shared business challenge and work through an end-to-end workflow that founders can reuse. You will see how to move from idea framing to research\, then into structured writing\, then into pitch content\, then into supporting assets. The goal is not to “learn tools” in isolation\, but to understand how outputs from one stage can become inputs for the next. You will leave with a clearer process for turning thinking into materials you can use: proposal language\, positioning\, pitch structure\, and content building blocks you can adapt to your business. This session would be led by Simon Benson from Talent for Tech\, a specialist technology consultancy who help to augment your business with their world-class expertise\, helping you to safely navigate the ever-evolving world of technology and deliver your project with confidence. What you will do in the sessionDuring the workshop\, you will work through a guided sequence that covers:Turning a rough idea into a clear problem\, audience\, and outcome statementProducing a first draft of positioning and value proposition languageGenerating a structured outline for a proposal or pitch narrativeTranslating that narrative into a pitch deck structure and slide copyCreating supporting content formats (one-pager\, web copy outline\, short-form content angles)Understanding how to move between tools without breaking the workflowSpotting where AI is useful\, and where founder judgement is still essentialThis is a working session with guided prompts and live build-throughWhat you will leave withA repeatable “idea-to-pitch” workflow you can apply to your own businessA set of structured templates and prompt patterns that support each stageDraft materials created during the session that you can adapt immediatelyClearer confidence in selecting tools for specific tasks.Who should attendThis session is designed for people who are actively building and need materials that help them sell\, fund\, partner\, or hire:Bring a business challenge (e.g. “We struggle to explain X / get people to care about Y”).Experience a curated set of examples across different settings and sectors.Map what could work for your organisation (with guided prompts and discussion).Identify what’s realistic now vs later. If selected for the next step: your brief can be taken to a team of artists to create a rapid demo concept. What you’ll leave withBy the end\, you’ll have:Founders\, co-founders and business ownersProduct-led service businesses and digital product teamsEarly-stage to scaling businesses based in Greater ManchesterPeople with decision-making authority inside their organisationThis is a guided workshop for Greater Manchester founders to turn ideas into pitch-ready materials using a connected AI tool workflow funded by MediaCity Immersive Technologies Innovation Hub. Register NowIf this sounds familiar:You’ve tested ChatGPT and other AI tools\, but they’re not part of your daily workflowYou’re still starting from scratch on proposals\, content\, and planning docsYou know AI could save time\, you just haven’t made it practical yet…then this session is built for you.

SUMMARY:Building with Generative AI: The Tricks and Tips You Need to Avoid Pitfalls
DESCRIPTION:**Title of talk:** Building with Generative AI: The Tricks and Tips You Need to Avoid Common Pitfalls\, by Ian Massingham\n\n**Abstract:**\nIn this talk\, you will learn about some of the common challenges that you might encounter while developing meaningful applications with generative AI models. Using non-deterministic systems as the basis for important applications is certainly an ‘interesting’ new frontier for software development\, but hope is not lost. In this session\, we will explore some of the well known (and less well known) issues in building applications on the APIs provided by Generative AI providers\, and on ‘open’ models\, such as Mistral\, Llama\, or DeepSeek. We will also (of course) dive into some of the approaches that you can take to address these challenges\, including agent/MCP integration and graph-based memory\, mitigating some of the inherent behaviors within Generative AI models\, and enabling you to build more reliable and robust systems on top of Generative models\, unlocking the potential of this new development paradigm.\n\n**Professional Bio:**\n\nIan Massingham is a seasoned technology executive with extensive experience in cloud computing\, data technology\, startups\, and developer relations. He is currently with Griptape\, an early stage startup focusing on agentic AI and LLM application development. Prior to 2021\, Ian spent nearly eight years at AWS\, joining the company in December 2013\, before AWS had gained significant enterprise adoption in Europe. During his tenure at AWS\, Ian held various roles in Developer Relations and Evangelism\, starting in this function and moving into a worldwide leadership position as Global Director\, Worldwide Solutions Architecture for Startups.
