CVMP 2026 — Europe’s visual media production conference returns to BFI Southbank

Tue 8th December – Wed 9th December

The 23rd ACM SIGGRAPH European Conference on Visual Media Production — CVMP 2026 — is back at BFI Southbank on 8–9 December, and the first keynote alone makes it worth a look.

Victor Perez — VFX supervisor whose credits include The Dark Knight Rises, Rogue One and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — opens with "The Beauty of Imperfection: Human Craft in the Age of AI", arguing that as AI makes flawless imagery trivial, what defines the future of the image is craft: selection, restraint, and meaning over spectacle. That’s a proper thesis for anyone working in film, VFX or virtual production right now.

CVMP’s whole thing is bridging research and practice — it brings together production and post specialists from film, broadcast and games with imaging, graphics, computer vision and animation researchers. Expect full and short papers, demos and industry talks, plus the CVMP Technical Awards recognising research innovation.

The call for submissions (papers, demos, industry talks) is currently open if you want to present, and award nominations are open too. Registration details are on the site.
